CHARITY POKER RUN

OCTOBER 12, 2008

Dear Brothers,

This past weekend, Sun. October 12th we conducted our second annul charity fundraiser in the form of a motorcycle Poker Run. As you know this event was held to benefit the Sunshine Foundation, the Lions Club and the Division 10 Building fund. It was a beautiful day and everyone who participated enjoyed themselves. Nearly 100 motorcyclists participated and some participants even used cars instead of bikes. The ride weaved through parts of Burlington and Mercer County to finish at the VFW in Hamilton where a family picnic was held, the new Harley Davidson motorcycle was raffled off and the winning poker hand was determined. Afterwards the party was held at the Tir Na Nog.

Congratulations are in order for  Steve Kelleher for being the lucky winner of the 2009 Harley Davidson Dyna Fat Bob motorcycle and Susan Goodman for winning the $200 cash prize for having the best poker hand.

I want to express my gratitude to Poker Run Chairman, Frank Connell and the committee for doing another great job in organizing this event for us. We really are lucky to have a member like Frank. His organizational skills and hard work came through for us again.  Mike Lupinetti, Kevin Hayman, Patty Potts and the rest of the committee worked tirelessly with Frank all year long to make the day a success.

We should all extend our gratitude to the members and non members who worked hard all day at registration, manned the different poker card stations, helped out with the picnic at the VFW and sold raffle tickets during the past several months. One particular member, who prefers anonymity, really did an outstanding job in selling the tickets. Big thanks our treasurer Mick McCabe for all his hard work in keeping the finances of this event in order. Mick always makes a hard job look easy. Finally it was good to have the support of so many people including several AOH Division 1 members who rode, bought raffle tickets and socialized at the picnic with us.

In closing, this was another memorable day for our club and one I am proud of. It is important that we not lose sight of the Christian Charity part of the AOH slogan. Because of this fundraiser we will be able to make another donation to the Sunshine Foundation and the Lions Club as well as donate to our Building Fund. Remember in order for our club to continue to grow and establish itself and for the enthusiasm to continue we need input from all our members. Again thanks to all who did their part.

Yours in Friendship, Unity and True Christian Charity

John

Brothers,

As a reminder, the AOH Div. 10 Charity Poker Run is only two weeks away (Sun Oct. 12th). Registration sign-up is 10:00 am to ll: 00 and will be at the Waterfront Park Rt. 29 Trenton. The run is not just limited to motorcycle riders. See our web site for more details. This is our biggest fundraiser of the year. As you know, we will be raffling off a new Harley Davidson Motorcycle after the Poker Run. It goes without saying that the sale of raffle tickets will make or break the day for us. We truly need the help of every Division 10 brother. Even if you are not able to be an active member you can still be a big help. I am asking every member to sell a least one book of raffle tickets. Ticket books can be obtained at the Tir Na Nog & McManimon’s Pub. Please make every effort to sell the tickets. Fundraiser Chairman, Frank Connell and his committee have been working hard for us on this project all year. Let’s all do our part to make this event the big financial and social success it was last year.

*Our treasurer, Mick McCabe will be available at the Tir Na Nog this Wednesday, Oct. 1st at 9:00 PM to accept ticket returns. Any questions please call Frank Connell at the Tir Na Nog 392-2554 or call me at 587-3206 or 609 647-6285.

Nominations of elected officers for a one year term will be conducted at our next Division Meeting Wednesday October 8th. Nominations will be held again at the November Division Meeting with elections and installation being held at the December meeting. As set forth in the National Constitution, candidates for Division elective office shall be a member of the Order for at least six months, and shall have received the Major Degrees of the Order. Exceptions can be made in cases where the Major Degree was not made available. To date all current officers, with the exception of our Treasurer, Mick McCabe, intend to run for re-election. I urge any  Member interested in serving our club as an officer to step forward. Candidates must be nominated from the floor or by the Nominating Committee. Officers are required to attend meetings on the first and second Wednesday of each month. The elected officers for Division 10 are President, Vice President, Recording Secretary, Financial Secretary, Treasurer, and Chairman of the Standing Committee, Marshal and Sentinel. I will forward list of the duties and responsibilities of each office before the next Division meeting.

I want to thank Chris Whalen, our Hibernian of the Year, for doing another great job in organizing the half way to St. Patrick’s Day Party which was held Sun. September 21st at the Triumph Brewing Co., Nassau St., and Princeton. A nice crowd showed up and entertainment was provided by Div. 10 members Tommy Glover, Jevy Flamson and Chris Finnigan.

Dates to mark on your calendar

The Tir Na Nog Pipe Band is always looking for new members. Beginning young students or experienced pipers and drummers are welcome. We practice every Monday evening at the Arbeiter Hall 151 East Franklin St. Hamilton. New students begin at 7 PM. For more information call me at 587-3206.

I am looking forward to seeing you at the next Division 10 meeting, Wednesday October 8th, 8 PM at the Arbeiter Hall.

Yours in Friendship Unity and True Christian Charity

ST. PATRICK’S PARADE 2008

All things considering I feel it was another nice parade day. I want to thank all of you who showed up to represent Division 10 in the Trenton St. Patrick’s Day Parade. Although about ten marched behind our banner, actually many more of us marched together in one big group behind different banners, with the LAOH, Tir Na Nog Pipe Band, Irish Northern Aid, and the Celtic Supporters. We were next to last in the parade line up. We will endeavor to improve our line up position next year. Nevertheless, I feel our group looked very impressive.

Congratulations to the LAOH for being voted the best women’s marching unit. We are all proud of you.

Thanks again to Gabe, and the committee for organizing our party. Also, thanks to the ladies and everyone else who contributed to making our second party a success. Jevy as usual did an outstanding job. We are fortunate to have such talent in our club. We appreciate the job Maggie and Joanne did by providing the Irish dancers. The Irish step dancers were terrific and always a big part of our celebration.

Now with the extended St. Patrick’s Day celebrations over it is time to focus on other club activities. Chris Whalen and his committee are working hard on our second annual Golf Outing, Sat . May 17th at the Princeton Country Club.  Remember a big part of making an event like this a financial success is securing sponsors. So far we a falling short in this department. I am asking every member to make an attempt to obtain a sponsor. The cost is $250 for a hole sponsor, $100 for a Tee and $50 for a cart sponsor. Go to our website for more information. It is very easy to down load an application form or a sponsorship form.

Let’s give Chris and the committee all the help we can while supporting our club.

Yours in Friendship Unity and True Christian Charity

John

President’s Message

March 20, 2008

Brothers,

I hope everyone had an enjoyable St. Patrick’s Day. Our club continues to be very active. So many of our members have contributed so much to the development of Division 10.

Several weeks ago many Division 10 brothers answered a request from Gabe McCabe to help replace the floor in our meeting room at the Arbeiter Hall. This was a big project. It was heartening to learn that so many of you worked so hard to replace the crumbling concrete floor in the basement. This job took many hours of hard work. A new concrete floor was laid. Later new tile installed with wood planking on the floor around the bar. This was a beautiful job done by talented people. I want to thank all of you who worked so very hard to improve our meeting room. Your work not only enhanced the appearance of the room but also gave us an opportunity to give something back to the Arbeiter Club. Special thanks to McCabe Concrete and the Congoleum Corp. who, thanks to Jude Tracey, donated the flooring materials.

I want to thank Frank Connell and Kevin Hayman who chaired the committee for the Wolfe Tones Concert. Also Chris Whalen and the ad book committee for all their hard work in making the night a success. This was a team effort by many of our members who really put a lot of work into organizing this show. Credit also goes to Trader Jim Walsh who made initial contact with the Wolfe Tones and got the ball rolling for us.  It was great to have a world class group like the Wolfe Tones in a setting like the Arbeiter Hall where we could all meet with them casually. I hope we can do it again next year.

I have already addressed our Parade Day Party, minus the parade, in an earlier e-mail. We intend to have another party after the rescheduled parade Sat. March 29th. The parade starts with mass at St. Anthonys at 9:30 AM, the opening ceremonies will be at 10:30 and the parade begins at 11:00 AM. We line up at the same location, S. Olden near Gridley Ave. Div. 4 #16A. After the parade we will meet at the Arbeiter Hall.

Don’t forget that a Major Degree will be conducted Sat. April 19th in Manville N.J. I hope as many of our members as possible can make it. This is always an enjoyable day. I intend to go as an observer. Steve Kelleher is organizing this event. Steve can be reached at 609-213-5339. We are working on providing a van for transportation.

The Irish Northern Aid has honored us with the “Joe Cahill” award for 2007. They presented us with a beautiful plaque emblazoned with a photo of Joe Cahill. The presentation was made at their annual dinner at the Irish Center in Philadelphia Jan. 28th. Many of our members attended the ceremony with Steve Kelleher accepting the award for us. We should be proud of this honor bestowed upon us by the INA.

We were also recognized by Councilman Kevin Meara at the annual Irish Flag raising ceremony March 7th at the Hamilton Municipal building. As a representative of Division 10, Kevin asked me to speak to those who had assembled for the ceremony. Assemblyman and Division 10 member Wayne DeAngelo was also present as a speaker.  Credit goes to Kevin for initiating this annual event which honors the Irish Community. Kevin was also responsible for authoring the first resolutions honoring the Trenton St.
Patrick’s Day Parade, Irish-American Associations and in support of Irish issues.

The Celtic Mass at Immaculate Conception on March 14th was beautiful and well attended by members of the various Irish organizations in the area. Div. 10 was represented by John (Jeep) Davis, Bob Cottrell, Trader Jim Walsh and me. Several other of our members attended the mass as well. Joe Connell did a reading in the Irish language and Gabe McCabe did a great job on the bagpipes. The Division 10 LAOH was also well represented at the mass. Fr. Mike Walsh was the celebrant.

I want to remind everyone that Chris Whalen and the committee are working hard on organizing our golf tournament. This year it will be held Sat. May 17th at the Princeton Country Club. This is shaping up to be another great day. See our web site, aohdiv10.org. for details.

Our annual bike run, charity fundraiser, is in the planning stages. This event will take place Oct. 12th. Again we will be raffling off a new Harley Davidson motorcycle. With the help of everyone in the club this should be even more successful than last year. I will keep everyone updated on developments.

The committee for the Gaelscoil program is working hard to make this very worthy project a success. The two day class on Irish culture for children will be held June 28th and 29th at Notre Dame High School. We will need club support and many volunteers to make this work. For more information call 609-888-5080 for a recorded message or access our web site aohdiv10.org, click on Gaelscoil for information.

The AOH Celtic Dart Team is working with the Trenton Dart League on a fundraiser dart tournament for the Make-A-Wish Foundation. This will be on Sat. April 12th at the Arbeiter Hall. The dart team looks great in their new kilts… See our web site under AOH Darts for more information.

Our members have been getting a lot of good press coverage lately. On Parade Day, March 8, Brother Billy Briggs was honored as an Irish Patriot by Sinn Fein VP Pat Doherty. The ceremony was held at the Tir Na Nog before a large crowd. This was followed by nice article in the Times of Trenton the next day about Billy. The Times also printed a very good piece on the LAOH Mathair Gael in the “Living” section on March 11th . The article was complete with a nice photo of the ladies and a good description of the role of Irish mothers. Also Brother Frank Connell was the subject of another very interesting article in the Trentonian by Jeff Edelstein. You can probably access these articles on-line.

I have to put a plug in for the Tir Na Nog Pipe Band. The unofficial pipe band of Division 10. We are always looking for new pipers and drummers. We meet every Monday evening at the Arbeiter Hall. If interested in joining the band show up at 7 pm or e-mail me, john.walsh@aohdiv10.org.  We have been together as a band for over twenty years and have one of the best instructors in the area. The younger the student the better.

In conclusion, our club continues to be more active and is developing nicely. To keep things moving along we need all the support we can get from our members. Support comes in many forms. One way is by paying dues in a timely manner. To date we have not heard from many members in this regard. Like any organization we have expenses and obligations. If you haven’t paid your 2008 dues please write a check today or call our Financial Secretary Steve Kelleher at 609-213-5339. Thanks.

Wishing you and your family a Happy Easter.

Yours in Friendship Unity and True Christian Charity

President’s Message January 1, 2008

Brothers

I hope that all of you and your families have had a Merry Christmas and I wish you all a Happy New Year.

The 2007 Division 10 Christmas Party was another success. I want to commend the party committee for an outstanding job. We all enjoyed ourselves due to your hard work and planning. Once again it was true club spirit that made the party a winner. I wish to thank all who contributed in any way, from those who prepared the delicious dishes, decorated and set up the tables, worked in the kitchen, as well as those who donated monetarily. This year over sixty children attended our party. The children received a visit from Santa which was one of the highlights of the party.  We were also fortunate to have truly professional entertainment with us; singers and musicians, Tommy Glover, Jevy Flamson, Billy O’Neal, Wendy Huber and the singers from the Arbeiter Club. They performed with great enthusiasm and put us all into the holiday sprit!  We greatly appreciate your time, effort and great music. Photos from the party can be viewed on our website soon.

We have accomplished much in 2007.  So many of you have put so much effort towards our club and the enthusiasm has been great. We really are developing at a very good pace. As of today we have 105 members and our treasury has grown. Some of the accomplishments of 2007:

·       First I must note the development of the Division 10 Ladies Ancient Order of Hibernians.  The ladies have been very active. All events run by them have been first class. The Easter Egg Hunt, the Mass and Dinner Dance at St. Raphael’s and the Healing Mass to name a few.

·       Additionally, we have our own Website developed and operated by our members.

·       Our first Golf Outing which was not only successful but fun.

·       Organized the Afghan School Project in which we worked with the U.S. Army 82nd Airborne Division to collect school supplies for children in Afghanistan.

·       We have developed our own By-Laws, which are going through the process of State and National approval.

·       Our first participation in Trenton’s St. Patrick’s Day Parade, and our party afterwards which was outstanding.

·       We have conducted a Major Fundraiser Bike Run which benefited the Sunshine Foundation and Division 10. We were able to make a sizable donation to the Sunshine Foundation.

·       The first Division 10 Family Picnic

·       Our first Thanksgiving Food Drive.

·       We have developed our own Library with online access.

·       Selection of our first Hibernian of the year, Chris Whalen.

·       We have also started a Building Fund and are working on many other issues concerning licensing, tax and accounting issues.

The club has come a long way since June 2006 when Division 10 was formed.  Our development can be attributed to the real interest and hard work of our members. Monthly meetings are always well attended with much input from the body. We already have many things planned for 2008. Among them is the Gaelscoil, an Irish culture camp for children, to be held at Notre Dame High School on June 28th & 29th. Among other things, planning for our Golf Tournament is in the works.

In conclusion I want to thank all of you for your support. Also big thanks to our club officers and those who have served as committee chairman for the various functions throughout the year. Your work and dedication are truly appreciated. I am looking forward to another great year with Div. 10.

Happy New Year!

John

Presidents Message August 8, 2007

BIKE RIDE FUNDRAISER

Dear Brothers,

As you know, this past weekend, Aug. 4th, we conducted our first annual fundraiser motorcycle ride to benefit the Mercer County Chapter of the Sunshine Foundation and the Division 10 Building Fund. Although it was a sweltering hot August day everyone who participated enjoyed themselves.  About 100 motorcyclists formed up in the municipal lot on 16th St. in Belmar and began the ride to Hamilton VFW Post 491. We were fortunate enough to have Hamilton Motorcycle Officers Murphy and Carnival escort the riders from Belmar to Hamilton.  We are also grateful to Hamilton Police Capt. Kevin Pollard for making the arrangements and coordinating with the Belmar Police.

Once the riders arrived at the VFW we continued with a great family picnic.  Conducted a 50/50, which was won by Bagpiper Marty Ferrick. We also sold more raffle tickets for the motorcycle. Tommy Glover once again did a great job as MC and entertainer. At 2 p.m. the moment everyone was waiting for occurred. We picked the raffle ticket for the new 2007 Harley Davidson Motorcycle. The winner was Gene Hayman of Ewing Twp. Gene is the father of Brother Kevin Hayman, an active member of Div. 10. Outside of myself, I can’t think of anyone more deserving of the win than Gene. Congratulations Gene!  After the picnic the party continued at Billy’s TIR NA NOG where Billy O’Neil and Tom Glover performed.  Door Prizes were raffled off while everyone munched on burgers and hot dogs.

Most importantly the day was a success for our club. It was proven that we are capable of organizing and running a large fundraiser like this.  As a charitable organization Div. 10 came through with a nice contribution for the Sunshine Foundation. It is important that we not lose sight of the Christian Charity part of the AOH slogan

I want to thank Brother Frank Connell, Patty Potts and the rest of the committee for a job well done. We are fortunate to have a person of Frank’s caliber in our club and a friend like Patty. They worked tirelessly for most of the year to make this fundraiser work. We could not have had a better committee chairman than Frank. His outstanding organizational skills and experience were so important.  The unsung hero of the day was Brother John Gaffney who sold by far the most raffle tickets. His contribution was tremendous. Great job John! I can’t forget to thank those who showed up Sat. morning in Belmar to help register, sell tickets and organize the staging area. Even the Belmar Shillelagh Club president John Carr helped out by allowing us the use of their facilities. So many more members and non members contributed to this day including all of you who made an effort to sell raffle tickets.

The Hamilton Post did a nice article on Division 10, with a good color photo of our members gathered around motorcycles. This was a good promotion for the Bike Run as well as a way to advertise our great club and increase membership. If you haven’t seen the article yet it is in the Aug. 1 edition and also posted on our web site.

In closing, this was a great effort and a milestone for our club. Many of our brothers put much hard work into it. Every year we intend to have at least one large fundraiser. Ultimately it is up to each and every member to do his part for the big event.  Even those who can’t be active or come to meetings must pitch in. Selling raffle tickets is vital for an event like a bike run.  In order for a fundraiser to be a truly profitable venture everyone must contribute even if only once a year. This was a memorable day and I am proud of our club and all we have accomplished thus far.

Yours in Friendship, Unity and True Christian Charity

John R. Walsh

Presidents Message August 5, 2007

Dear Brothers

It is with deep regret that I report the passing of Brother Andy Doyle. Andy has been a member of the Ancient Order of Hibernians Division 1 for many years as well as the current President of the Celtic Supporter’s Club. He was a good friend to many of us and has been a part of the Irish social scene for many years. Andy was a man of strong character and personality. Those of us who knew him will miss his sense humor and his strong presence. He was not only a good man but a rare individual who will definitely be missed.

Funeral Services will be at the Saul Colonial Home 3795 Nottingham Way, Hamilton Square. You can pay your respects 6-9 p.m. Tuesday Aug. 7th. The funeral will begin at 8:30 a.m. Wednesday; mass will be 9:30 a.m. at Our Lady of Sorrows 3816 East State St. Hamilton.

I have conferred with Vince McKinley, president of AOH Div. 1. The Ancient Order of Hibernians Funeral Ritual will be conducted at 6:30 p.m. at the funeral home.  I urge as many division 10 members as possible to be present for this ritual. It is only fitting to pay our final respects to a fellow Hibernian.

Yours in Friendship Unity and True Christian Charity

Presidents Message July 17, 2007

Brothers

I would like to address all members on a few issues of importance to our club. Div. 10 has been in existence for one year, I feel things are developing at a very good pace. It has been a year of firsts. The first Christmas Party, our first participation in the St. Patrick’s Day Parade and our party afterwards. Our membership is up to 90 now and our bank account has increased considerably. We have developed a building fund, financial committee, appointed an entertainment chairman, a club historian; we now have a Div. 10 lending library. We have our own website, developed and operated by one of our own. We have conducted our first golf outing which was not only fun but very successful. Now we are in the process of developing our own by-laws and organizing a Bike Run fundraiser for the Sunshine Foundation. All this has happened because of the hard work and real interest of our members. Our meetings are always well attended. I am really proud of our members and what we have accomplished to date. With all this in mind I want to bring to everyone’s attention the following:

The AOH Div.10 fundraiser BIKE RUN for the Sunshine Foundation is only two weeks away (Aug. 4th).  See our website for details. This is our biggest fundraiser yet. As you probably know we will be raffling off a motorcycle after the bike run. The raffle is the core of this fundraiser.  We truly need the help of every brother, even if you are not an active member we still need your help. We will be mailing out raffle tickets to those who have not received theirs yet. Please make every effort to sell the tickets. And if you or someone you know rides sign up. Frank Connell and his committee are working hard on this project. Let’s all do our part in making this event a success.

Don Carroll, Steve Kelleher and Jim Kenna have put a lot of effort into forming our own BY-LAWS. In the near future those who have not received the by-law draft in person will be receiving it in the mail. Please take a little time and read carefully the draft. Make comments and suggest edits and make sure Don Carroll is informed. Your edits and suggestions will be consolidated and voted on. I feel this important project legitimizes our division. We need your input.

Our WEBSITE, which was developed by Brother Mike Rhodes, is in the process of being fine tuned with the assistance brothers Mike Dillon and Paul Mclauglin.  Attached to this letter is a draft of the Service Level Agreement produced by the committee. Please take time to read this document and make suggestions if necessary.  It is very informative and gives you a clearer idea of the job of our web master and the role our site plays in the success of our club.

At our last meeting Jerry Sheridan, of the St. Patrick’s DAY PARADE committee, addressed our members in the hopes of recruiting some new blood for the committee. This is a good opportunity to become part of a tradition which has been in place for twenty five years in Trenton. Two of our members, Billy Briggs and Piper Jim Walsh were among those who started the parade so many years ago. The Parade Committee now needs help. Contact Chairman of the Trustees, Executive Board at jerry_sheridan@msn.com .

The AFGHAN SCHOOL PROJECT, being coordinated by Brother Dennis Keenan, is coming along very well. Div. 10 has received a sincere thank you from MAJ Hannah and SFC Johnson of the 82nd Airborne. They have received two more large boxes of school supplies.

As a reminder our NEXT DIV. MEETING IS WED. AUG. 1, 8:00pm ARBIETER HALL.  Don’t forget to bring your raffle ticket returns.

To sum things up I believe our club has come a long way in just one year. This is because of the efforts and real interest of our members. Let us continue to work towards making the AOH Joe Cahill Div. 10 the premier Irish organization of Mercer County.

Yours in Friendship, Unity and True Christian Charity

John R. Walsh

P.S   The Aug. 1st edition of the Hamilton Post will feature an article on Div. 10 as well a photographs of our members. This should give the Bike Run publicity and promote new membership.

PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE 5/28/07

Golf Outing

As you all know our first annual golf outing was held Sat. May 19th at the Miry Run Golf Course in Robbinsville. This event was, in my opinion, a real success. We had plenty of golfers and sponsors. From what I could see those who turned out to play golf had a great day. The weather started out good but toward the end of the day the temperature dropped a little and there was some drizzle. This didn’t dampen the spirits of the golfers, spirits were still high. Afterwards everyone enjoyed themselves at the Savoy Restaurant for a barbeque. Once again Tommy Glover did a great job in providing entertainment.

I was happy to see, considering this was our first golf outing, we were able to get such good support, in a relatively short period of time. This can be attributed to the hard work and experience of our Golf Outing Chairman Chris Whalen, Mike Rhodes and the rest of the guys on the committee. I want to congratulate Chris, Mike and the committee for a job well done. I also want to thank those members and non-members who supported us not only by playing golf but also as volunteers and sponsors. Mike’s wife Nancy and his mom Carole spent the entire day on the golf course working the event.

This was not only an enjoyable day but also a financial success. I’m looking forward to our next golf outing.

Sincerely,

John Walsh

PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE  3/15/07

Saturday was a great day for the Irish and particularly for the AOH Joe Cahill Division 10. We marched in the Trenton St.Patrick’s Day parade for the first time to the music of the Tir Na Nog Pipe band. In my opinion everyone looked impressive. Although I was hoping to see more members marching, I was glad to see those who were able to make it.  The green jackets, Aran Sweaters, black pants, neckties etc. made us look like the class group we are.  The banners, flags and the pipe band were a great accent.

I want to thank Chairman Mick McCabe and his committee of Gabe, Joe Connell, Mike Lyons, Jerry McGuire, Don Carroll, and all the other members for their hard work and detailed planning. From printing of the tickets and flyers to organizing the entertainment and managing the food and beverages everything was great. The committee, along with other club members were at the Arbeiter Hall at 8:00AM parade day setting up tables and decorating. Their labor paid off. Let’s not forget the hard work of the kitchen crew, Jim & Bernie Walsh, Jim& Jake Kenna, Bob & Thelma Cottrell as well as others.  We all had a good time at a memorable event. It really was a nice family style St. Patrick’s Celebration led by real club spirit.

Jevy and his band “Errigal” did an outstanding job. The Irish music was so enjoyable and delivered with such passion and energy. They performed during the entire party and were such an important part of the affair. It’s good to have members like Jevy in the club.

Mayor Gilmore, despite many other commitments, made it a point to appear at our function. It was good to see him. Also it was great to have parade Grand Marshal Chris Vernon, Miss St. Patrick Megan DiBiasi and the parade committee led by Chairman Vince McKelvey stop in to see us.

I want to thank Joanne Connell and her dancers for performing. They did a great job as usual. It wouldn’t be an Irish party without the dancers.  I can honestly say that I can never remember enjoying the dancers as much as I did at our party. And let’s not forget the good job done by the Tir Na Nog Pipe Band led by Mick.

There were so many people that contributed to making this day a success. In the end, it was true club spirit, hard work and friendship that carried the day.

Sincerely,

John Walsh

President

As a reminder let’s not forget the Celtic Mass being held at Immaculate Conception Church on Chestnut Ave. Sat. March 17th at 11:00 AM.  Mass will be celebrated by Fr. Mike Walsh. I feel it is important for as many of us as possible to support this event.

January 23, 2007

I would like to inform all that a new Ladies Ancient Order of Hibernians Division is currently being organized by Patti Walsh (my sister-in-law) and Jake Kenna.  The initial meeting for the new LAOH Div. will be held on Saturday February 10th, at the Hamilton Police PBA Hall in Yardville.

At least 15 women, who are not currently members of an LAOH, must be in attendance.  Women interested in becoming a member of this new organization, please contact Patti ASAP at pjrmwal@aol.com.   The meeting will be held at 10:30 A.M.

I believe this to be a very important development.  We should give the new LAOH Div. as much support as possible.

It goes without saying that the involvement of women is vital to any organization.  I wish Patti, Jake and other organizers the best.

Please pass this information on to friends and relatives and make sure they contact Patti.

Sincerely,

John Walsh

Christmas Party 2006

Dear Members

Thanks to the efforts of so many people the first Christmas party of the Joe Cahill Div. 10 AOH was a true success. Everyone pitched in with a true club spirit that made this a memorable event and a real place in time which will be hard to duplicate.

From the outstanding singing and guitar playing of Tom Glover to the appearance of Santa Claus and all the smiling faces of the excited 40 something children and their parents and grandparents, and all the delicious food prepared by and donated by so many wonderful folks this day was great fun.

My congratulations to the party committee members, who met weekly, worked hard and managed to stay focused on all the small details that make an event like this succeed.  You can see pictures of the event on our Photos page.

In the end it was the true positive spirit, willingness to be involved, and the hard work and friendship of club members and their wives who made this a great time. I wish to thank all those who worked in any capacity, donated their time as well as items for our door prizes and the food. Without you this wouldn’t have worked.

Thanks again.

Sincerely,

John Walsh
